I was tempted by this book since it’s publication, beautiful cover and an excellent author, although admittedly I’ve never read her books before.
As soon as this was short listed for the booker 2019 I knew I just had to read it.
An excellent multi layered book about life, family, abuse, friendships set in Istanbul, quite a unique read.
How far would you go to help your friends? Are your friends closer than family?
I would certainly recommend this on to others.

Thanks to the publisher who sent me a review copy. I loved this book, my favorite of the year so far. A great plot with an amazing cast of characters and some important messages about the treatment of women in the early Turkish republic. I hope this wins the Booker Prize.
