Well there is no doubt that this deserves to be Waterstones fiction book of the month!
A fantastically well written powerful book which I will now very happily recommend to everyone else! This book will stay with you for years to come, you certainly won’t regret any time spent reading this or talking about it!

This truly is a ‘whole life’ packed into a short, compelling novel about a gentle, thoughtful man who leads a simple life in a mountain valley. Despite hardship and misfortune, he never fails to appreciate the smaller things in life. Beautiful, powerful, a must read!

This is a beautifully written book that describes the life of Egger in a surprisingly short book. After reading this I still haven’t made my mind up if I like Egger. I found him difficult to relate to, just like Egger finds other people difficult to relate to. I gasped at his reaction to Anna Holler crying. His lack of empathy shocked me. However I still loved this book. It’s a keeper, a book to be revisited, re-read, if only to remind you to appreciate the world around you.
