Thank you to the publishers for this review copy!
I had fell in love with the cover some time ago…. but it only rose to the top of my to be read pile when it was selected to be read by our book group!
So on Monday we decided to read this in March 2019… I started it straight away & sadly had to put it down for work but stayed up to finish it last night (27 Feb) – so much for the March read… ha ha – once I read the first page I knew this wasn’t going to wait any longer!
Excellent writing! Fantastic storyline! Gorgeous Cover!
Very very happy to recommend this on to others!

I must admit that whilst this book has a gorgeous cover, i probably wouldn’t have bought it. My go to genre is crime/thriller, and whilst i do purchase some fiction, i don’t normally buy it in hardback. This book was selected as our book group read, so i picked it up last Saturday and started reading.
Sunday rolled round, and i was still curled up on the settee reading this book. I found that i could not put it down, no matter the late (or early) hour. I was rooting for both Sara and Esther in the book, i wanted to see how each of their stories developed. I reached the end of this book on Sunday evening, and my first two thoughts were that i was sad it was over, but glad that we’d picked this gem of a book.
I will be recommending this book to many people, and i can’t wait to see what the author does next.

Looking at the cover I wasn’t 100% sure I’d like this one. But it’s utterly fantatstic and one of my top books of the year. The writing was amazing and so were the characters, I especially liked Bisby and Esther. The constant twists and turns keep the reader hooked. Historical fiction at it’s absolute best!
