I purchased this immediately after it won the Booker Prize in 2019, but it has taken me until today to read it.
I admit I had read the first 50 or so pages sometime ago and put it to one side, I just wasn’t the feeling the love for it that others were reporting.
However, as it is now lockdown and I can concentrate more fully on a book without interruptions I thought I would try again and I am pleased to report that I raced through it – loving the characters and all their interactions.
I think it is fair to say that the book comes together so much better as a great read once the first interaction is seen.
Happy to recommend on to others.

I really enjoyed this book. At first it felt like a series of short stories but all the women’s lives begin to intertwine. Some of the perspectives of the same events by the different characters are beautifully observed. Highly recommended.
