Having read so many good reviews for this book and it has been recommended to me many many times in person I finally purchased it.
I felt it got off to a relatively slow start, a good tense start, but not quite what people had described.
Once I reached the half way point however there was no putting this book down,
A good thriller, with some great twists!
Wow! An absolutely brilliant psychological thriller, I was hooked from page one and couldn’t put the book down. Great plot, great twists, loved it!
Everybody said I must read this book, everybody said there was a big twist. Sometimes knowing a book has a big twist, ruins the twist. You know something big is coming so you’re guessing, who would be the biggest twist? So I saw who the twist would be but I couldn’t explain how. It was clever, I liked it. I had to go back through the book and see that the author hadn’t cheated! Now I know I’m super picky especially about thrillers, I hate feeling cheated but for me the book let me down at the end. The last twist, that was too much for me, it felt too far fetched. A push too far and of course the obligatory abusive husband turns up after everything is done and dusted for one final ‘attack’. Well I kept thinking the author wouldn’t, she isn’t, she has, oh why did she do that? I thought she was better than that! So it’s 4* from me, I’m almost tempted to give it a 3* for the ending but that half way twist deserves so much more.
I had also been recommended this book a few times. They told me they couldn’t put it down, and when I started reading it myself I couldn’t agree more.
I specially loved the first twist.
It’s a very easy to read book and I would certainly recommend it.
I bought this on the spur of the moment. Had no expectations. Enjoyed it from the get go. It started well but at a steady pace. It got better and better and by the end I was hooked and thoroughly captivated by the end. Brilliant summer read.
