I confess I requested it long before it was long listed for the women’s prize for fiction, but it did move straight to the top of the pile when it was long listed.
I devoured it in just a couple of sittings and I can certainly see why this has been long listed. I have happily recommended it since.
The vast majority of the book is set during a long family road trip, both parents have different objectives to achieve from this trip.
There is a large amount of narrative about stories to read, to listen to, things they observe, current issues they discuss as well as historical facts.
A really interesting read which completely absorbs you into their journey.
