So I bought this after it won the Booker in 2020 but it has taken me a little time to build up to reading it..
I managed the first 100 pages on Monday and perhaps I was sat on the fence at the end of those? I was concerned to an extent as to where this book was going to take me.
I devoured the rest of the book (over 300 pages) yesterday. It is certainly brilliantly written and very easily a worthy Booker winner! Actually hard to believe this is a debut. I will certainly buy his next book immediately. I am very happy to recommend this book on to everyone to read but I needed a lot of cups of tea and biscuits. Whilst it was brilliant I found it mentally exhausting because of the content. I don’t actually want to put anyone off reading this, I think everyone should absolutely read it. Completely recommended.
