This book is even better than the first, although they are a series and you will of course get a little extra reading in order I do think it will be fine to start with this book and then return to book 1…
This book gives you a great sense of time and place just like the first, but perhaps the ‘power’ behind the events maybe a surprise to some readers, it left me just needing to read more of his work – so lucky for me – I have book 3 – Smoke and ashes queued up nicely!
I have had the pleasure of meeting Abir in Waterstones Durham before I wrote this review and I would just like to say that he is a really lovely guy and so very interesting to talk to!
