I’ve never read any John Banville novels before so I started this with no expectations, but I do love Irish crime so I was hopeful.
I started it Saturday night shortly before it was time to sleep, I know a silly mistake. Consequently I was up at 6am on Sunday to finish the book! All other plans were cancelled. Loved the writing, so much so that of course I have now checked out his extensive backlist for future purchases. This however, is the first book in a new series from him so a good place to have started. I shall be eagerly watching for the book 2.
So the plot was great, the atmosphere it developed brilliant you could most certainly sense the time and place – so you’d best pop an extra jumper on to read. Chilling in so many ways. Great characters I simply need more of this series and I shall most definitely be recommending to all.
