Thank you to the publisher for this review copy.
I have not read Nuala’s books before so it is always a treat to try a new author, especially from my favourite genre of crime / thrillers.
I nearly managed this book in one sitting, it has enough tension and intrigue to keep the pages turning over.
Just when you think you have it solved in your head the twist lands.
Very happy to recommend on to others.

Thanks to Fiona for this one. This is perhaps the best crime book I’ve read this year. The story starts after the main character wakes up from a coma some time after an accident in which her daughter Elspeth dies. I loved the way pieces of the puzzle came back in flashbacks and the tension throughout the book was amazing. The ending was amazing and not possible to guess until the end without it being overblown. Look foward to the nexr!

Thanks to Fiona for the review copy.
I attended a talk of 4 authors at Gateshead Library in October 2018, where Nuala was talking about this book. I’d read, and enjoyed, her previous offering, My Sisters Bones, so i was really looking forward to The Day of the Accident.
This is a book that grabs your attention and the end of each chapter makes you want to continue reading, so it was a book that i read quickly.
I thought the main character, Maggie, was well written and i wanted to see her being okay at the end of the book.
I can understand why Dan said this was his crime book of the year so far, as it was fast paced, and does keep you hooked to the very end.
Highly recommended and very much enjoyed!

Thanks to Fiona for the review copy. This book grabbed at my heart strings from the first page and held on tight with a totally unexpected twist. I would certainly recommend this read, just make sure you have plenty of free time as you won’t want to put it down!!
