With all the hype around this book I resisted reading it for a while…..

Thinking maybe I would wait for the paperback in 2016….

Then it made Waterstones thriller of the year and still all I hear are great reviews….still resisting….

Then waterstones release their exclusive hardback version – so ok resistance was gone and I purchased.

Fantastic read, keeps the plot twisting along very nicely never really knowing who is guilty….and I totally loved the ending!

Highly recommended.

I found this book a bit slow to get going and at first I really didn’t like the characters. My sympathy for the characters changed as the story developed and it kept me guessing throughout. A great suspense novel, loved it!

I really enjoyed this book. I agree that at times the character were hard to like, but the shifting plot helped temper that so I never actively disliked them either. The plot twists had me guessing till the end. I’d recommend it to anyone who liked gone girl. Well worth the money spent on it. 🙂

A real page turner! I agree about the characters.. I was at odds with the lead character but the plot twists made her more likeable and realistic. My suspicions around the ending were correct! Great read and highly recommended!

I loved the book. It kept me guessing until the end. I enjoyed the descriptions and I could imagine the spaces, the characters, etc.
I felt empathy for the main character, Rachel and by the end of the book I liked her.
It´s an addictive book and I also recommend it!

I’m in a minority but I didn’t like this book. I found the characters totally unlikable and the situations that Rachel puts herself into are completely cringe worthy. As for the comparison to Gone Girl, I think it’s a little weak, Rachel is drunk most of the time so her point of view is totally compromised. She is completely unreliable. However Megan wasn’t unreliable, it was just the author failed to tell a relevant part of the story in order to manufacture a twist. It was like she removed a couple of chapters of Megan’s story from the book. It just left me thinking ‘What! Really?

I thought this was a really well executed book. Each chapter keeps you in suspense to the point where you have to read on to the next! I felt a wealth of emotions for Rachel, from sympathy and pity to annoyance and empathy. The twist was great and offers an explanation for Rachel’s, at times annoying, behaviour. By the end, you have justification for some of Rachel’s decisions and, for me, this made her both relatable and likeable.

      It’s definitely worth a read!
