Thank you to the publishers for this review copy, this is the first of Kyung-Sook Shin’s novels I have read but it certainly lives up to her reputation.
This is mesmerizing, it sets the time and place so firmly in your head as you read. You feel for the young girl, isolated, struggling, trying to find her place in the world.
You appreciate the beauty she sees in the flowers but her story is heart breaking.
A brilliant piece of writing.
