It was clear on arrival this book was going to take me out of my comfort zone of reading genres so I was a little hesitant to pick it up.
Then it was longlisted for the Women’s Fiction Prize 2026 so obviously I had to pick it up now.
My verdict, the writing is superb, so hard to believe that this is a debut.
Alice is clearly a very talented author and one I am now going to have to watch out for future books from her.
Yes the novel did take me out of my comfort zone but the writing was exceptional so I allowed it to spin my head and I hung on.
Happy to recommend this to other readers.
