Thank you to the publishers for this review copy.
This book has been longlisted for the Women’s Prize Non Fiction 2025, at the time of writing this review the shortlist is not yet announced, but I would be delighted to see this book make it to the shortlist.
Jenni’s book is an account of her time spent in care and it is utterly heart breaking!
What has happened to Jenni from a very young age should not have been possible then or now.
The sad reality appears to be that these things have not yet been prevented if you listen to many news articles.
Everyone involved in the care system or training to be in the care system should read this book!
This book will stay with me for ever and I hope it helps people see that the care system then and now should exist to ensure that children have a safe, secure and loving childhood.
Totally recommended but be prepared for a book that will break your heart.
