I had previously read and loved Black Reed Bay (book 1) in this series so I had high expectations for it.
Shatter Creek certainly works as a standalone but it works even better as the second in the series, so I do recommend you read Black Reed Bay first.
Casey is an excellent character and you will be rooting for her with every page you turn.
The pacing and plot were both excellent, the tension ensures you really don’t want to be disturbed when reading it.
Very happy to recommend both books so far and I am now of course hoping there is a book 3 on the horizon very soon.
