This is another absolutely gripping crime thriller from Neil Lancaster.
The Dark Heart is book 7 in DS Max Craigie series, each book in the series reads well as a standalone read but for best results read in order – so if you have not yet read them start with Dead Man’s Grave. Every single one of Neil’s books are fabulous.
He has also started a new series under the name Max Connor which I am also very pleased to highly recommend.
Now if you are up to date with the DS Max Craigie series and you’ve read the Max Connor – have you also read his original trilogy? If not then start with Going Dark.
So back to The Dark Heart – which publishes March 2026. The pace and tension ensures you really aren’t putting the book down once you start it. The plotting is current and fantastic full of emotion at times too. The main characters are a brilliant team that you simply will always want another book from. But there is also chocolate, vodka and a laugh or two.
Absolutely recommended to all crime thriller fans!
