Thank you to the publishers for this review copy, sorry it sat in my pile for too long but I wanted to be sure I could give it the time it deserved.
Very well written, you really wont want to put this book down once you pick it up.
This is a raw, emotional, tender and heart breaking story.
Wang Di, at just 16, is taken into sexual slavery by the Japanese Army as a comfort woman. A term I confess I had not heard before.
Her story is raw and heart breaking as it describes the trauma these women faced, this includes some very young girls.
Of course after the war the girls were tainted as far as their families and future husbands were concerned, not to mention the emotional damage that they faced daily following their ordeals.
An additional element of the story is a young boy Kevin, trying to find out the secret past of his grandma.
In my opinion the content of this story is rarely discussed and perhaps people need to know more about the ordeal of these women.
I am very happy to recommend this book on to all.
