Thank you to the publishers for this early review copy, having read and loved all of Jo Spain’s books to date this book was never going to wait patiently in any to be read tower.
This to me was a totally new voice for Jo and I can’t decide at the time of writing the review if this will be a standalone or perhaps the start of a new series (Obviously as I love her books – a new series would be spectacular news). This is atmospheric, gripping and brilliant. Fantastic pace and characters. You are totally surrounded by snow and ice, it is a different style of life entirely and Jo has portrayed this so very well. The book gets under your skin, what is happening, who is doing this? What was the victim doing? Is all as it seems? Fantastic conclusion and I certainly hadn’t solved the plot. Very happy to recommend on to all. Also if you haven’t read Jo’s previous books – then you are really missing out – so I definitely suggest you pre order this one and catch up on the the backlist.

I was introduced to Jo Spains books at a Waterstones Durham event organised by Fiona many years ago. I’ve loved every one of her books and I always pre order her new releases, this new one being no exception. As soon as it arrived, it went to the top of my list.
The setting, the characters, and the crime has you racing through the pages to find out what happens next. Didn’t see the ending coming. Now it’s a long wait until Jo releases her next book.
