This is longlisted for the Booker 2021, so having never read this author before it seemed the perfect time to dive in.
It is quite the read, obviously brilliantly written but not an easy read. There are no real chapters, so finding a point to break off is tricky. The subject matter is intense very much about death and an individuals fate. Set in South African across many decades the author shows great knowledge about this country and it’s history. I think this book will haunt your thoughts for a while after finishing.
I do see this sitting on the short list when it is announced next month.
