Firstly a massive thank you to the publishers for this review copy.
My verdict – this could be my book of the year – completely brilliant!
I would love to see this book win the women’s prize for fiction in 2019.
I genuinely could not put it down – I sadly had to take one break from it for a school run – but then tonight’s evening meal has been delayed so I could finish it without risking another interruption!
If you know me I will be recommending you read this, so just get it bought and save my voice!

I’d seen this book on twitter as part of the women’s prize long list, Fiona then recommended it, so thought I’d give it a try, not really knowing what to expect.
According to the front cover of this book it was part of the Oprah book club, and recommended by Barack Obama, so I was expecting it to be really good.
It’s fair to say I was not left disappointed. We see the book through the eyes of 3 characters, Roy, Celestial and Andre. Well written, great plot and the ending was everything I wanted it to be, this book is perfect in every way.
Thanks to Fiona for recommending it, and it deserves every one of the 5 stars above.

Thank you to Fiona for the recommendation. I enjoyed this book, although it took me a bit of time to get into it. I read about half the book, put it down and read a couple of other books. When I picked it back up to read the second half, I couldn’t stop reading until I’d finished.
