I had wanted to read this since it was booker longlisted, I was so drawn in by the cover.
So when an early paperback copy landed my way I read it straight away!
Beautifully written, I was utterly absorbed in the story. I felt there was no need for it to end I could simply have continued reading Martin’s writing for years. So I must check out any back list at some point too.
This book in my opinion is not genre defined, some will tell you it’s science fiction, others might say it’s literary fiction – either way just enjoy it!
Absolutely recommended from someone who rarely reads science fiction but will happily read literary fiction.
First book read in 2024, let’s hope the rest of the years reading is this good.
