Why is this ‘profession’ even possible?
They aren’t a volunteer, they are paid to do what some would describe as nothing, others might describe as something really valuable – just being there for someone.
I found myself feeling very sorry for the people who were using this service as perhaps they friendship and family support groups weren’t in place for them.
