So this has made the Women’s Prize for fiction longlist 2021 and I am assured it reads fine as a standalone book too.
I was concerned as it is the final part in her seasons quartet…
So I read this yesterday with a mixed response. Some parts I absolutely loved and would easily make me happily dive backwards to the previous three books to enjoy more of this writing. Other parts I felt would fit better in the novel if I had read the three previous parts. So I am left feeling that this will get the best response from people as a final instalment rather than a read in isolation?
I therefore will be now be working towards reading the first three in the correct order to get the full appreciation of this book.
