A little chat with Anna on twitter sent me searching around my house for one of her previous books and out to buy this latest book.
I was lucky enough to grab one of the Waterstones special edition copies of The House of Whispers – so it is fair to say it is a thing of beauty both inside and out.
This is a great historical novel set in Rome 1938. Very much looks at the changes that they are experiencing many are influenced following changes seen in Germany. It looks at the power of the father figure in the house, the husband. Can a family, wife ever stand up to a father / husband in these times?
It looks at mental health, grief, supernatural.
It is simply brilliant! Very happy to both recommend and to dig into Anna’s earlier books too!
