Thank you to the publishers for a review copy, I confess I was so concerned at how this would compare to Shuggie Bain that I started it from the beginning about three times before finally being brave enough to read all the way through. Shuggie Bain will always have a special place in my heart of that there is no dispute, but this is another exceptional book. In some ways similar with the setting and the family dynamics. But very much it’s own story. Young Mungo will also break your heart. The fishing trip had me broken. Completely recommend both Young Mungo and Shuggie Bain.
