Longlisted for Booker 2021.
Thank you to the publishers for this review copy. Although I have never read any Mary Lawson novels before I had been told many times how brilliant they were so this seemed like a perfect opportunity to find out for myself.
So my verdict – I agree, a brilliant author! Would certainly happily read her other novels.
This is set in a small town, everyone knows everybody and everybody’s business.
A new person in town, a child missing, gorgeously told, elegantly written, simply a pleasure to read.
Very happy to recommend on to others.
