I have managed to jump into book 2 before reading book 1…
(Book 1 is Black Drop)
So this review really reflects me reading this as a standalone read. I do think it worked really well as a standalone. Good plotting and enough intrigue to ensure I kept those pages turning.
A good mix of characters and I did feel totally immersed in the timeframe and landscape.
