So as I am a massive fan of The Puppet Show & Black Summer by M W Craven (Team Tilly obviously) – then I just had to check out his previous work by Mike Craven (Born in a Burial Gown / Body Breaker and his short stories assume nothing, believe nobody, challenge everything)
Born in a Burial Gown is the first in the DI Fluke series, love the character Fluke but I also really enjoyed meeting his colleague Towler, so at the end of book 1 I’m Team Towler we will see if this stays the same as we read the next in the series.
So my verdict on this book: Great characters, Excellent Tension, a little humour – why have these sat quietly in so many book shops for so long – very pleased to hear that Mike is updating these for revised publication in 2020 – obviously I will be also checking out the latest editions – until then if you can get your hands on a old version I certainly recommend you do! (In stock via Waterstones at the time of typing this review)
(Mike will be in Waterstones Durham for his third visit 10am Saturday 29 June)
