Thank you to the publishers for this early review copy. My initial impression was that this wasn’t something I would usually pick up to read and in the first 50 or so pages I was still wondering if this was something for me…
However, this is a good multi layered debut. We have the prison system and the violent games for others enjoyment. But we also have very clever non fiction notes throughout that make you consider the reality of the prison system as you read. It is also full of tenderness and hope.
I think this book could split the pack, cause debate, perhaps a book club choice?
