Thank you to the publishers for this review copy, I will confess I had not heard about this book until it made the Women’s longlist.
I was particularly intrigued once I had seen reviews on cover from Bernardine Evaristo & Caleb Azumah Nelson whose books I’ve really enjoyed.
For me this read was tense and I very much needed things to work out for the main character. But where I think it will cause debate is with the language.
At times, I loved the language and thought it was wonderful but also if I was reading when I was tired I found I had to really focus and concentrate.
So I will be very interested to see what others think. However, I do think it is safe to say that I would certainly buy whatever she writes next.
