Thank you to the publishers for this very long awaited and magnificent read. I truly appreciate getting my hands on this early.
I read Wild Swans around 1993 – more than 30 years ago – and it remains the book that made the biggest impact on me.
I have gifted it and / or recommended it to many people since then.
Fly, Wild Swans is the follow up I never thought we would get but I am most delighted we have because firstly it is another brilliant read from Jung Chang, so once again my eyes have been opened to life in China and secondly, it gives me another excuse to recommend Wild Swans and now of course Fly, Wild Swans to lots of new readers.
This book looks at life before and after the publication of Wild Swans for Jung Chang and her family, especially her mum.
It gives you a greater understanding of her childhood and adult life. It looks at her life inside and outside of China over the decades.
It is utterly heart breaking in so many places but it also shows a family of great bravery and courage.
The ending will stay with me for a very long time.
Absolutely recommending this and Wild Swans.
