Thank you to the publishers for this early review copy, now this is not something I would generally have gone and picked up in a shop because I would fear it would break my heart.
But over the last few years there have been a few times when gifting a book like this to someone I care about would have been really worthwhile and hopefully very helpful.
This book looks at grief, it is written by Clare after grief has touched her heart, mind and body in a number of different ways. It looks at how she felt, how people around her behaved, how grief is different to each one of us, how it changes it’s shape. It looks at how it catches you unawares, how anniversaries, triggers of all different times can be dreaded or catch you out. It is a deeply personal account, very wise, very gentle. It also gives us the hope as the title suggests that it won’t always hurt like this.
Most definitely recommended.
