Firstly, I must thank Chris for sending me signed dedicated copies of The Case Of The Missing Firefly (book 4) and Mistletoe and Crime (Book 5) in The Stonebridge Mysteries series. I was lucky enough to win these in a twitter competition. To anyone who hasn’t heard of Chris or his books before – I recommend you consider purchasing and reading any of them based on my reading of these two and all the fantastic reviews I have seen from both other readers and other crime authors. As I have already said, I had never read his books before and I have read the two he sent effectively as standalone reads and they worked great as a standalone. So if you choose to read in orders – which we all know is generally best then I would imagine you will love them even more. The two I have read are crime novellas so a perfect length when taking a gamble on a new author, or perhaps adding as a stocking filler or just a little gift to tell someone you care and are thinking about them.
The plotting was great, the writing was excellent – and as this was the second I had read in this series you begin to have a feel for his main characters and consequently you are driven even more to check out the back list especially in this series. They appear such unlikely detectives I really need to find out where it all started.
A couple of laughs along the way with this one but also a good conclusion to the crime.
Get them ordered – treat yourself or someone else…
