This is an accomplished debut novel told by a child narrator, which I believe gave it a rather unique feel.
It looks at history, religion, medical issues, family and what happens when things are not in harmony. It looks at the child trying to make sense of the world around them.
The child needs to survive and thrive but can they in these circumstances?
At times this was a difficult read, other times I surprised myself with a laugh but overall a rather serious book.
I would certainly recommend the writing and look forward to seeing what Mihret writes next.
