Thank you to the publishers for this early review copy, I moved it up the towering tbr piles after hearing a recent podcast where she was being interviewed about this book.
This is certainly a good debut read that I am happy to recommend to crime and non crime readers. At times you could really imagine it was 1979. The characters were great.
Yes crimes are featured in the book, but to me it was really about a young girl exploring life in her community. All aspects of life not just the safe and joy filled aspects.
Sometimes it will make you laugh or smile as it warms your heart, other times it will utterly break it.
No matter what Jennie writes next I will be needing a copy.
