Thank you to the publishers for this early review copy of Helen’s second novel ‘The Lodger’, having previously loved Helen’s first book’ The Deception of Harriet Fleet’ I just knew I had a treat in store with this latest.
This is a historical mystery set in 1919 whilst the country has seen so much change and pain over the last few years with War and men not returning people have had to mourn the loss of young men all over the country. Whilst a young girl is trying to accept her finance won’t be returning a body is pulled from the river of a young lodger… her friend. We now see the unofficial investigation begin and this is going to be far from a safe mission for young Grace.
Very happy to recommend on to fans of her first novel, and of course if you haven’t read the first you have time to grab a copy before this one publishes in March 2023. Both are standalone novels.
