I am always drawn towards the BBC Radio 2 Book club choices……so when I happened to mention this to the lovely Louise she very kindly gave me a copy to read……
I had heard mixed reviews on it previously so started the book with no expectations.
I really enjoyed reading about the logistics of the expeditions and the local beliefs and fears about the mountain.
The darker ghost element of the story became the lesser part for me.
But I would definitely recommend.
Maybe it was the subject matter but this book just didn’t grab me, I didn’t really engage with the characters and as a ghost I didn’t find it at all chilling. I’m just glad it was short 🙂
I love listening to the Radio 2 book club on my way home from work. I was drawn to this book as Michelle talked about her research on mountaineering and altitude sickness. Like Fiona, I was fascinated by the logistics of the climb and the local beliefs, I really enjoyed the book.
